A touch of local history at the movies

Special guest post from Elspeth.

Check out the movie Bran Nue Dae (now available for loan) which is a quirky fun film about family, love, and belonging which also features a little bit of history of Clontarf College, just down the road from Manning library. The film, set in Broome in 1969, is the story of an Aboriginal boy called Willie who is sent unwillingly, by his mother, to boarding school at Clontarf and of his journey of discovery back to his hometown of Broome. The Clontarf grounds now also holds a local farmers market great for an early morning taste of fresh produce and delicious baked goods before a Saturday morning visit to your library!
